In the run-up to the crucial U.N. Climate Treaty Conference in Copenhagen in December 2009, the Buddhist Declaration on climate change will present to the world's media a unique spiritual view of climate change and our urgent responsibility to address the solutions. It emerged from the contributions of over 20 Buddhist teachers of all traditions to the book A Buddhist Response to the Climate Emergency. The Time to Act is Now was composed as a pan-Buddhist statement by Zen teacher Dr David Tetsuun Loy and senior Theravadin teacher Ven. Bhikkhu Bodhi with scientific input from Dr John Stanley.
The Dalai Lama was the first to sign this Declaration. We invite all concerned members of the international Buddhist community to study the document and add their voice by co-signing it at the end of this page.

Good to be able to use his name in support of such a worthy leftwing cause, eh? Some correspondents didn't like it when I quoted the Dalai Lama speaking in support of the war on terror and President Bush. Ho hum, I suppose its Ok to use his name when it suits a certain political correctness.

I assume that post was for me although you addressed it to 'Mike'.
Can't you handle any dissent at Tripple Gem? After all you don't get many posters anyway and what is the point of having a website if all your respondents sing the same song as yourself? I am contemptuous of this website when its motives are so transparent. The Buddhist theme is merely a cover for your politics.

It does not seem that you are interested in discussing anything. Whether it's nuclear weapons, global warming, the EU Elections, human rights, or whatever, all you seem to want is to strike a pose (a leftwing pose) and then sit back and invite like-minded people to admire what you have written.
Cheers,

You do seem to have a real problem with 'leftwing'. I notice that you have not described your motives in posting. Are these purely malicious? Since this website is based on Buddhist values, good motives are encouraged. These include intelligence, constructive criticism, metta, karuna, generosity. So here is a challenge for you. Can you write something which is not contemptuous, cynical and demonstrating aversion towards your pet hates and which is based firmly upon Buddhist values,
Chris |
